How Long Should My Garbage Disposal Unit Last?
There is no question that as things start getting older they are going to tend to fail more. Here is where these types of questions always come up. Should I think about replacing my garbage disposal unit or can it be repaired? Usually, these units can last for about 10 years. A lot of people have actually claimed that they have had units that were even older than that. If you replace certain parts we have seen units that are going well into 15 plus years. It is all going to depend on the extent of the damage.
Can Certain Foods Affect The Unit?
Of course, there are a lot of foods that we don’t recommend that you throw into the garbage disposal unit. You have to be very careful to not get bones from steak or other foods in there. Obviously you are not going to want to get silverware stuck in there. If this does happen though and you are not able to get these things out yourself we recommend that you give us a call or contact us so that we may be able to help you out!
Repair Or Replacement
When you have any type of a problem we are always going to want to explore both avenues. A lot of times repairs are going to be a more cost-effective option. If the damage is too great though they may not be the best long term option. To be honest with these units repairs are almost always possible. The only real reason that we are going to lean more towards full replacement would be that we are just dealing with a very old garbage disposal unit. For the most part, though repairs are always going to be a good option.
Professional Grade Units
Will a garbage disposal unit that works perfectly in a home be as effective in a larger kitchen? That is going to depend on the type of unit that we are talking about. For the most part though what you are going to typically use at home is going to fall short in a commercial kitchen. It is probably going to tend to overheat a lot just based on the fact that it will be exposed to major wear and tear. If you are looking for a special type of gabage disposal hardware give us a call!
